Digital Marketing is one of those new buzz words that keeps getting passed around, so I thought I would take a minute and share with you what it actually is.

Digital Marketing is the movement beyond print media to use on-line media channels to market a brand, product, or organization through the internet.

A company’s website should be the main focus of any digital marketing campaign.  To this end, the website can be used as a promotional tool and a landing place for consumers to get additional information and educate themselves on the company.  By creating an online identity for your company, it will increase brand image and awareness and you will be able to reach a wider target audience more efficiently.

Another large component of digital marketing is the content on your website.  Content refers to the text and images on your website.  To get the best results from on-line media channels, you need to have a great website that you are pointing those interested in your company to.  Having said this, your website should not just be a static site, you need to update the content on your site often and consistently.  One of the easiest ways to do this is through blog posts.  Blog posts will also keep people coming back to your site and let visitors to your site know that the website (and your business) is still in operation.  Digital Marketing places a higher emphasis on content than programming.  Meaning what your website has to say is more important than the cool programming in your site.
