Reflecting on My Internship Experience at Digital Media Butterfly
Going into the summer before my senior year at Baylor University, I knew that I wanted to find an internship that would push me creatively and help me to grow in real-world marketing and communication work. As a Journalism and Public Relations major, I was eager to apply what I have learned in my classes in a hands-on professional setting. Through a family friend I found out about Digital Media Butterfly and it has truly exceeded my expectations on what a summer internship could be.
This summer, I have had the opportunity to work with the DMB team as a marketing intern and work directly on social media content for three different clients. Each client was from a different industry with different audiences and goals. This is one aspect that I have come to appreciate most about this industry and something that Digital Media Butterfly does extremely well. As no two clients are the same, you have to learn to tailor your messaging and creative strategy to each individual brand.
During my time at DMB this summer I got to see this principal played out each day. The DMB team does a wonderful job of meeting every client where they are and delivering work that is both strategic and personalized. I have had the opportunity to learn from the DMB team and have gained a deeper understanding of how intentional and thoughtful digital marketing truly is.
Beyond client work, I have gotten to see what it looks like to work in an office environment that is both fun and professional. It is clear that collaboration is a key aspect of the culture at Digital Media Butterfly and is something that I will continue to seek out as I further my career. The team at DMB sets the bar high, not just in the work that they produce, but in the way that they communicate and support one another. Being in this kind of environment has helped me become more confident in my abilities and aware of my areas for growth.
As my time at Digital Media Butterfly wraps up, I am left incredibly thankful for this experience. I am leaving my summer internship with new skills and a deeper understanding of what it means to create excellent and intentional work for clients. I hope to always remember my summer at Digital Media Butterfly!
