Taking on an internship while in college has played a pivotal role in my development as a working professional and experienced employee. Joining the Digital Media Butterfly team in my junior year of college as a marketing intern has provided me with valuable insight into what I am capable of and a clearer understanding of what I would like to do post-graduation.
As a marketing intern at DMB, my responsibilities included (but were not limited to) social media management, blog writing, website editing, advertisement design, and jumping on to different projects to support the team’s needs.
Running social media accounts for clients in Waco taught me how to cater to different brand needs and target a wide range of audiences different from myself and other Baylor students. During my time here, we began creating reels for clients, which allowed me to take my creative ideas to another level and taught me how to adapt to the rapidly changing social media industry.
When I was not creating social media content, I was creating print advertisements for various clients or creating blog posts for clients. Creating advertisements and blogs allowed me to explore another marketing side beyond social media and broaden my experience.
Working with Caryn, Kallie, Kayla and Bailey has been an amazing opportunity. They have been such a fun team to work with and learn from. From day one, they welcomed me with open arms and patiently guided me through this learning experience. Kallie, Kayla and Bailey have patiently answered all of my questions, and Caryn has given me trust and confidence in my creative abilities.
As I wrap up my last semester at Baylor, I would like to continue pursuing a marketing career. While I want to focus primarily on social media marketing, after my time at DMB, I can jump onto any team and quickly learn skills as needed. This internship has not only instilled in me experience but also confidence. No matter how far I go, I will always carry the lessons I have learned and remain grateful for this team and internship.
